Features And Benefits Of Bikram Yoga

Try a new way to practice Bikram yoga that benefits both body and mind.
Features and Benefits of Bikram Yoga

Millions of people around the world practice yoga. There are many different ways to practice it. The specialty of Bikram yoga is that it is practiced in a 40-degree location.

This type of yoga is one of the best ways to relax and exercise at the same time. The heat makes the body more supple,  so making postures is much easier. It also reduces the pain you feel when doing different postures.

This yoga  is becoming very popular in many western countries. However, Bikram yoga is not the best yoga sport for beginners as some of the postures are really difficult.

The origin of Bikram yoga

Bikram Choudhury was the developer of Bikram yoga. His desire for a better connection to the body began with the accident. This accident helped him realize that exercising at a high temperature makes it easier to communicate with the body.

He was able to fully rehabilitate himself and thus reduce the pain that the exercise caused him. After that, many people around him wanted to achieve the same results. When that happened, they became a perfect publicity for his method and ideas.

limb stretching

Bikram Choudhury created a new form of yoga that combined Eastern and Western consciousness. The lesson lasts 90 minutes and the asanas (positions) are done 26.  It also includes doing breathing exercises in a room with a very high temperature.

The purpose of each position is to treat different parts of the body. All positions include balancing, breathing and stretching on the mat. They may not be very difficult, but doing every position perfectly requires hand and foot strength.

You should also wear light, loose-fitting clothing when practicing Bikram yoga. That way you will feel comfortable and be able to cope with high temperatures.

Benefits of Bikram Yoga

Release of toxins

One of the great benefits of Bikram yoga is that it helps release toxins. High temperatures cause your body to get rid of them even faster due to heavy sweating.

A study published in the journal Environment International  found that the body gets rid of toxins through sweating. People who practice this type of yoga usually produce a liter of sweat in an hour. So it’s best to liquefy yourself well before every hour  and bring a bottle of water with you just in case.

Extreme relaxation

High temperatures also lead to muscle relaxation. The muscles in the body become much looser and oxidized more, making them more supple. If you are recovering from a muscle injury, this heat will also help relieve the pain.

No training is required

Both beginners and more experienced yoga practitioners can practice Bikram yoga, but it is always best to start gradually. The heat can also confuse people who have never practiced yoga before, making it perhaps more difficult to do the right postures.

Some warnings

While there are some great benefits to Bikram yoga, there are also things you should consider before you start. This yoga law is not good for pregnant women or those with circulatory problems. Remember that heat dilates blood vessels, which means your blood pressure may drop.

As you get older, you also need to be more careful not to expose yourself to high temperatures. However, people over the age of 60 in good and basic condition can still practice this yoga class.

Lastly, you should also not practice this type of yoga if you suffer from the flu or fever.

If none of these things are an obstacle,  practicing Bikram yoga can offer you incredible benefits such as relieving tension and balancing the mind.
